Salt River Project was working to restore power to most of Mesa and parts of Apache Junction on Thursday evening after a fire destroyed one of its transformers. About 80,000 customers were without power as the noon fire at the Thunderstone substation damaged at least one transformer and overloaded SRP's system within Mesa. As demand climbed during the afternoon with higher temperatures, which produced rolling outages affecting homes and businesses. BNY Mellon (NYSE: BK) said a combination of relocations and new hires will add about 400 new jobs to Massachusetts as its asset servicing business continues to grow. The bank currently employs more than 4,000 people in Greater Boston, including Everett, Lynnfield, Newton and Westborough. In July 2010, the company welcomed more than 1,100 new employees from its $2.3 billion acquisition of the global investment servicing, or GIS, business of PNC Financial Services. Missouri American Water filed a rate increase request Thursday with the Missouri Public Service Commission (MOPSC) and said it also is requesting a consolidated rate structure. The company is asking to hike rates $19 per quarter, or $6.33 per month, for an average residential customer using 22,500 gallons of water per quarter in St. Louis County, and about $8.20 per month for an average residential customer using 7,000 gallons of water monthly in St. Charles County. Two bidders who recently lost protests over the awarding of the Honolulu rail transit’s core systems contract will appeal the City and County of Honolulu’s decision. Bombardier and Sumitomo Corp. of America announced this week that they will appeal the city’s decision to the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.
