Minneapolis' Uptown neighborhood, long prideful of its indie vibe, is worried that it's acquired a case of the chains. The area's commercial district is bustling with an energy a lot of places would welcome. But the Southwest Journal reports on concerns over the proliferation of major chain stores that have moved to Uptown in recent years, citing a survey of residents and visitors by the Uptown Association. The business group plans a new campaign this year that will emphasize the neighborhood's shopping character, making the case that (the metro area's 12th Victoria's Secret aside) most of the chain stores in Uptown are uncommon or unique in the market…
