Chapel Hill real estate fund raises $16M

Chapel Hill-based Blue Heron Real Estate Opportunity Fund I LLC has raised $16 million from five investors, according to Form D filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The fund, which has been raising money since June 2011, is managed by Blue Heron Asset Management LLC in Chapel Hill and is led by Chapel Hill real estate veteran Ron Strom and his partner Maurice Malfatti. Blue Heron representatives could not be reached for comment.
