Philadelphia honors Urban Outfitters founder

Pittsburgh region native Richard A. Hayne, who founded Urban Outfitters, received the 2011 Edward Powell Award from the City of Philadelphia for his efforts to boost the city's economy. The Philadelphia Inquirer said the 64-year-old Hayne got the award for his work building Urban Outfitters (NYSE: URBN) and keeping it in Philadelphia even as it grew, as well as his charitable contributions and his decision to move Urban Outfitters to the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Hayne, who also was recognized for his philanthropy, donated the $100,000 prize to Drexel University and another $100,000, too.
