Caesars shares jump on first day of trading

Shares of Caesars Entertainment Corp. rose more than 40 percent on Wednesday, the first day of the company’s initial public offering. Caesars (NASDAQ: CZR), the operator of the Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati under construction downtown, began trading at $9 per share, offering about 1.8 million shares of common stock. Proceeds from the sale are expected to be about $16 million. The shares, which represent only a fraction of the total shares held, were at $13.41 in late-morning trading.
