Home Depot testing PayPal in S.F. Bay Area

PayPal has set up checkout systems at every The Home Depot Inc. outlet in the San Francisco Bay Area in a first test of its plans to go beyond online payments. The system allows customers with a PayPal account to pay by typing their mobile phone numbers and a security code into an existing card-processing terminal at checkout stands. The pilot program, currently at all 44 Bay Area Home Depot (NYSE: HD) stores, is expected to go nationwide with the Atlanta-based home improvement chain in March.
