State asks Hawaii lawmakers for $3M to cover APEC expenses

The state is asking Hawaii lawmakers to approve an emergency appropriation of $3 million to cover costs associated with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit that was held in Honolulu in November. KITV reports that state officials say the money is needed to cover budgets for several agencies until federal grant money is released to cover APEC-related costs. KITV reports that Hawaiian Electric Co. is also asking to be reimbursed $95,000 for installing back-up generators at the Hawaii Convention Center and at the hotels where high-level officials stayed…
