Alabama exports hit record total in 2011

Alabama exports rose to a record high in 2011, according to a press release from Gov. Robert Bentley's office. Exports from the state increased 15.4 percent in 2011 to $17.9 billion, which was up from $15.5 billion last year. The state ranked 25th nationally for dollar value of exports, according to the data compiled by WiserTrade using information from the U.S. Department of Commerce. Vehicles and vehicle parts were the top export, accounting for more than $5.4 billion last year.
